Gary Bettman makes a major update about the salary cap at board of governors meeting
The National Hockey League has fallen on some hard time in recent years, causing the salary cap to stay the same over the last few seasons, with things looking up. The salary cap could be raised sooner rather than later.
It's been reported by Frank Seravalli that Gary Bettman held a meeting with the BOG and that the $1.1 Billion tax on players for escrow, may be paid off soon. This also means the salary cap may go up by 1M or more this off-season
Great news for players, paying for a problem they didn't cause!
It's been projected that the next salary cap increase will be in 2024-2025, as that is the year the raise will be significant.
The NHL's projected revenue for the 2021-2022 season, was a record-breaking $5 Billion, not counting the revenue from ads on helmets, jerseys, and now digital ads on the boards which have been determined to bring in even more significant revenue.
But, the owners definitely need more ads on the jersey.
