Gary Bettman reveals the projected salary cap for next year
The National Hockey League has been teasing and increased to the salary cap for years now. After players finally completed their escrow payments, it is now clear that the cap is set to rise more than 1 million next year. The number however, has been up and down with the amount unconfirmed.
Today however, the league finally provided the board of governors with an idea of next year's number. Gary Bettman presented the following information in front of today's crowd.
Cap estimate next year given at BoG is approx $87.675M
This number is a significant increase from this year's 83.5 million salary cap. This could finally generate some significant player movement as teams look to improve their roster going forward. This will also allow teams to take on money at this year's trade deadline ahead of next season.
