TSN's Darren Dreger on the Insider Trading Panel said that many teams were in on trading for Arizona Coyote's Jakob Chychrun but as of right now he believes the Boston Bruins were the front runners.
The young 23 year old defenceman who is a former 16th overall pick has had a bit of a down year offensively, but is still leading the team in ice time and has scored 19 points in 45 games despite his team sitting at the bottom of the standings.
He has had a limited offensive role this season after the team acquired Shayne Gostisbehere in the offseason to run the Powerplay. Last season when Chychrun was running it, he scored 18 goals and 41 points in 56 games.
This left handed defenceman is still signed to a very team friendly contract until the 2024-25 season with a cap hit of $4,600,000, which is very rare for a player of his calibre.
If the Bruins swing a trade for Chychrun, it will be interesting to see what the Bruins send back in return. I believe DeBrusk will be part of the deal as he has requested a trade out of Boston already, but how many picks & prospects will be included?
