Insider reveals how much JT Miller wants on his next contract
The Vancouver Canucks have been a bubble team fighting for their playoff lives for most of the season. However, their play started to turn a corner when Bruce Budreau took over as head coach. That being said, there have been a few bright spots for the Canucks this season, whether it's been the play of Thatcher Demko, the resurgence of Brock Boeser during the latter part of the season, or the emergence of soon-to-be superstar J.T Miller.
This season with Vancouver, Miller has set career highs in goals, assists, and points in just 66 games this season, and as such, he might have priced himself out of Vancouver if they don't make room for him after next season. Miller still has a year left on his deal with the Canucks at 5.25 per. Still, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reported that he could be due for a raise when he hits free agency at the end of next season after reports have surfaced that he's looking for Mika Zabanijad type of money (8.5).
Opinion: J.T. Miller has shown he can play the game at a very high level, but I don't think he's shown enough to be asking for a 3 million dollar plus per year raise. Only time will tell if that's what happens, though, GM's get trigger happy and overpay free agents all the time
