Insider reveals this western conference defender is likely to be dealt soon
As the NHL season progresses, look for the Arizona Coyotes continue to tank for the remainder of the year. They hope to be lucky enough to win the Connor Bedard sweepstakes, but if even if they don't, it is a deep draft and the Coyotes will take as many draft choices as they can.
One player that could be relocated is Shayne Gostisbehere, According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli.
For the most part, Gostisbehere has played pretty well for the Coyotes. He is known for his ability to create offense and plays on the power play. The mobile defender is set to become a unrestricted free agent after the final year of his contract that pays him $4.5 million per season. It is unlikely that he re-signs with Arizona, so this could be another likely trade the Coyotes are looking to make before the March 3rd deadline.
This year's draft is supposed to be quite a good one, so the Coyotes are looking for as big as a return as they could get for Gostisbehere. NHL reporter Frank Seravalli states that a second round pick would be a likely return for Gostisbehere. With a deep draft this season, a first round pick for Shayne seems like it would be too expensive for most franchises.
The good news for teams competing in the Stanley Cup playoffs is that Gostisbehere won't cost as much as players such as Jakob Chychrun, Erik Karlsson, or even Mattias Ekholm. So for some team he could be a bargain for some team. As the deadline is only less than two months away, look for the Coyotes to be busy in the trade market.
