Jakob Chychrun still wants out of Arizona
In a move that shows a lack of faith in the Arizona Coyotes organization, the young defenseman, Jakob Chychrun wants to go to a contender.
Since the Coyotes have begun the rebuild, Chychrun sounded like he's wanted out for a while.
There was speculation of Bill Armstrong moving him during the trade deadline, but nothing happened.
However, there have been numerous teams in the NHL that are linked to the defenseman currently, including the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Florida Panthers, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Boston Bruins.
«We talked about at the end of last season, my desire to win in this league,» Chychrun said.
«If I wanted to be in a different situation and move on that they were going to be willing to do that and make that happen for me.»
In his seven years with the Arizona Coyotes, he's only made the playoffs once during the 2019-2020 season.
Chychrun has an affordable cap hit, for the teams who can afford him, but the question is where?
In the meantime, Armstrong is trying to move the veteran for assets to continue the rebuild in Arizona, including two first-round draft picks and a prospect, or a top young NHL player in a return.
The defenseman finished second on the team in goals in 2020-2021 and hasn't had a season under 20 points in 4 seasons.
