The Calgary Flames defeated the Dallas Stars in Game 7 of their 1st round series. The series was filled with physicality great play and even better goaltending. The series truly felt like the coming out part for Jake Oettinger. Unfortunately for Oettinger he was bested by Johnny Gaudreau in overtime sending the Flames into the 2nd round.
Even more special than the overtime victory was the off ice display of emotion. After scoring the game winner, Johnny Gaudreau was seen hugging his best friend and teamate, Sean Monahan . Monhan underwent season ending surgery this year and was not available to the Flames during the playoffs.
The moment was special for Flames' fans but it was even more special for Gaudreau's mother who shared the following:
I'm so happy for Johnny. I cried today. When John told me he was going to wear the A tonight and when he had the game winning goal in overtime, But neither of those times did I cry as much when I saw Sean waiting down the tunnel to give Johnny a big hug.
