On Wednesday, New York Islanders defensemen Sebastian Aho was arrested for driving under the influence. Aho had his driver's license suspended and was fined 40,000 Swedish Krona, which is equivalent to $3,769 USD. It seems like this was an honest mistake as he was drinking the night before and thought he was fine by the next morning, according to his agent Claude Lemieux.
He had no idea he would still be over the limit by the next morning and felt 100 percent, but unfortunately he made a mistake and he is very sorry!
It also seems that the New York Islanders and Lou Lamoriello were made aware of it right away.
We were made aware immediately of the situation regarding Sebastian Aho. We have a copy of the police report indicating that he registered a 0.03 blood alcohol content, which is .01 over Sweden's legal limit of .02.
Sebastian apologizes for his mistake and as an organization we will work with him to make sure this never happens again.
Safe to assume that this shouldn't affect Sebastian Aho playing this season for the Islanders. He just may have to take the subway.
