You never like to see anyone get injured, but unfortunately it's part of the game. But what's even more pathetic is a player making disrespectful comments after an injury has occurred.
Case in point, during last night's game between the Montreal Canadiens and Florida Panthers, Jake Evans was in on a breakaway against Florida Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky. On the play but Weegar would right cut off Evans' lane to the net. Evans would get a shot off before unfortunately losing his balance and falling hard into the boards.
The Panthers would try to head up the ice, but the officials knew Evans was injured and blew the whistle. This whistle was to the dismay of Panthers' players including Mackenzie Weegar. Weegar went back to say something to Evans who was being attended to causing Evans' teammate Joel Edmundson to go after Weegar.
We didn't know what was said until hockey reporter Matt Drake revealed this on Twitter:
Weegar didn't do anything wrong on the play, but it was ridiculous and embarrassing what was coming out of his mouth afterwards, while a player Evans is writhing in pain on the ice.
Indeed, if you look closely, you realize that Weegar was yelling this, while Evans was lying on the ice laying in pain that's absolutely pathetic by Weegar.
This is a fucking joke. This is a joke, he's perfectly fine.
This is one of the rare instances when a player didn't show concern about his opponent's health and is a terrible look for Weegar.
