Making the national Hockey League is a feat by itself, having a career that spans a long time is commendable considering how physical and taxing the sport of hockey can be on your body.
Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs are taking on the Washington Capitals in what is Leaf captain John Tavares's 1000th career game. As such, before puck drop, he was honoured with a silver stick, take a look:
Tavares, 32, has 944 points in 1000 career games split between the New York Islanders and Leafs scoring 412 goals and adding 532 assists.
What an accomplishment by Tavares and a really nice touching tribute from the Leafs before the game.
Say what you will about the Leafs, when it comes to things like this, they always do it right.
Congratulations to John Tavares on this wonder achievement.
