Maple Leafs' arena security ejects fan after he's hit in the face by a puck
A new trend has started, where hockey players trade pucks with fans in exchange for something the player enjoys like candy or chocolate. Last night before the Canadiens and Maple Leafs game a young fan named Hunter attempted to get himself a puck from one of his favourite players, Nick Suzuki.
Unfortunately the puck thrown by Suzuki, ended up striking Hunter in the face and busting open his lip.
But of course Nick Suzuki did everything in his power to make things right for young, Hunter. This includes taking a photo, giving him a puck and even getting him one of his sticks.
After the game Hunter's parents sent this tweet to their son's hero sharing the details.
#NickSuzuki #14ClassAct @CanadiensMTL
Thanks Nick for taking a selfie & making sure Hunter was ok after he didn't catch the puck you tossed him😂He loves the stick, puck autograph & Fat Lip😉A memory that will last a lifetime. Had to leave the game cause the stick wasn't allowed🤣
The most intriguing part of this message though was that the young fan and his dad were forced to leave the game. When pressed on the issue the father shared the following.
So it seems that Maple Leafs' staff wouldn't allow Steven and Hunter to stay in the arena because the stick from his idol was deemed a "weapon". Nothing like a hockey arena not finding a way to be accommodating to a run fan.
