Mark Borowiecki busted open by Evgeni Malkin - Possible suspension incoming
During today's game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators, an incident at the end of the 2nd period left Mark Borowiecki busted open badly.
The play occured after the period ended and Malkin and Borowiecki engaged one and other. After a vicious slash, Boro attempted to shove Malkin but was met with a stiff cross-check to the face. Borowiecki, who is known as one of the toughest players in the game was visibly shaken as he immediately began to leak blood.
On the play Borowiecki received 2-minutes for slashing and Malkin received 4-minutes for high sticking. It will be interesting to see how the league views this play as it is very similar to the one Auston Matthews was suspended 2-games for.
Boro has not taken a shift during the 3rd period.
