Mark Stone has been battling significant back issues for parts of 2-seasons now and it appears the Golden Knights' Captain has finally taken steps to try and correct the issue. Stone's back injury dates back to the 2020-21 playoffs and it forced him to miss 45 games this year. Today the Knights announced that Stone had undergone the procedure today via their Twitter account.

Update:

Mark Stone underwent a successful lumbar discectomy with Dr. Robert Watkins, IV at Cedars Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital. He is expected to be ready to play for the regular season.

This surgery for Stone is expected to help fix the disc in his low back.

Lumbar discectomy is a type of surgery to fix a disc in the lower back. This surgery uses smaller cuts (incisions) than an open lumbar discectomy. Your backbone, or spinal column, is made up of a chain of bones called the vertebrae. Your spinal cord runs through the spinal column.

As is the case with any back surgery, the hope is Stone will make a full recovery, but most of these surgeries aren't completed with someone playing a physical game like hockey post surgery. Hopefully Stone make a full recovery and is able to return to the NHL and continue his career.
