Matvei Michkov Gets Two Consecutive Penalties
Matvei Michkov is projected to be a 1st round pick in the 2023 NHL draft, ranked #3 by some insiders. He recently signed a new contract to stay in the KHL until 2025-2026, to the chagrin of some NHL clubs.
Due to this, you would think Central Scouting would downgrade him, but he's still ranked 2nd in International Skaters. His game is like his attitude, explosive and quick.
Michkov is currently on loan to HC Sochi from SKA St. Peterburg and his antics recently put him in the penalty box upon a goal being scored was released and Michkov went back at it, letting the referees have it. Afterward, they sent him back to the box, as they don't take sh*t from anyone in the KHL.
You could say that Michkov let the opposing team in his head with those actions, but he demonstrates a passion that is only exceeded by his performance. In 15 IIHF games played in 2021-2023, in 15 games he put up 21 points which is exceptional and further lends to the fact that he is a top-ranked pick.
Michkov is still rotating between spots between the VHL and KHL, but will look to stay in the KHL until 2026, it will be exciting to see who picks the winger in the draft this year.
