Things have been tough on Max Pacioretty the last couple of seasons. After tearing his ACL last season he was shipped to the Carolina Hurricanes for future considerations, in what was mostly a cap dump. He did however return to play for the Hurricanes before re-tearing the same ACL on January 19th, just 5 games into his return

Now, according to TSN's Chris Johnston, Pacioretty is facing an 8-9 month recovery should he decide to have surgery on his Achilles again.

Pacioretty did travel to Finland to meet with one of the top surgeons in the world, however, nothing has been said about whether or not he'll undergo surgery.

One would think at 34 years old, Pacioretty would think about ending his playing career in order to preserve his quality of life, but, if his reason to have the surgery is to return to play hockey at some point in the future, his decision to keep playing would be out of passion for the game.

In just 5 games with Carolina this season he has 3 points, all of them goals. He clearly has miles left if he wants to continue to play, however with his injury history, I'm not sure he should.
