The Montreal Canadiens picked Juraj Slafkovsky first overall in July's National Hockey League entry draft. The top prospect made his debut for the Canadiens at their prospects tournament last night against the Buffalo Sabres. Now it appears he won't play in the tournament again.
According to multiple reports, the New Jersey Devils announce team broke the news tonight that he won't play another game in the tournament.
Slafkovsky, took a hit crossing the Sabres blueline last night that may have something to do with his absence from the remainder of the tournament. Although he wasn't knocked down on the play, it was still a high speed collision which he could be feeling the ill-effects from.
There is also speculation that Montreal might have seen enough of their prized possession in the one game he did play and are saving him for their main camp, which opens next week.
For their sake, I hope it's not the former and Slafkovsky is okay, but you never know. Sometimes the most innocent of plays can do the most damage.
