Last season the NHL's Department of Player Safety developed a reputation if allowing players to get away with almost anything. This season though it appears that George Parros has decided to tighten the reins. This season he already issued a surprising high stick suspension and has now issued a suspension for tripping.

During yesterday's game between the New York Rangers and Dallas Stars, Star's forward Ty Dellandrea received a two minute minor for tripping Igor Shesterkin. Most assumed that would be all that would come from this situation, but today the NHL DoPS announced a surprising fine for Dellandrea.

Ty Dellandrea was fined $2333.33, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for this goaltender interference on Igor Shesterkin.

While it's good to see the league protecting their goaltenders, there truly doesn't seem to be any ill intent on Dellandrea's part. It'll be interesting to see if Parros keeps up this standard or falls back into his old ways.
