Erik Karlsson has experienced a career revitalization this year in San Jose. It had seemed like the hand of time had passed him by. Injuries had appeared to have turned the former Norris Trophy winner into a support player, that was until now.

With the return to form has come the rumors that the Sharks will look to unload the veteran and his $11,500,000 cap hit. According to Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, a team like the Florida Panthers could be in on Erik Karlsson.

It is an extremely difficult puzzle to piece together, but I do think Florida would have interest in Erik Karlsson. Not sure how it could happen, though." Friedman said.

The Florida Panthers are a shell of the team from 2021-2022, as seen in their recent on-ice performances. Gone is the brilliance of Andrew Brunette's success as interim coach. They have also continued to have issues with injuries on their blue line, from Aaron Ekblad to rookie Matt Kiersted.

Florida would have to do some salary cap gymnastics, to make the deal work, but would be a great new home for Karlsson.

Would the Sharks consider taking on a big contract like Sergei Bobrovsky's to try and get a deal done?
