NHL announces a bunch of new events for the All-Star Skills competition including a dunk tank
The NHL All-Star Game is moving to Fort Lauderdale and Sunrise on February 3rd and 4th. Included in the game will be the return of women's hockey players after previous players featured were Kendall Coyne Schofield and Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson previously.
The NHL is adding three-new events to keep the All-Star Weekend fresh and exciting.
Included in the new NHL All-Star Game will be Tendy-Tandem which will feature, a shooting goalie and an in-net goalie, continuing new ideas from last season. Another fun event will be "Splash and Dunk" which will see players shooting to dunk another player into the water. The last event will be "Pitch n' Puck" which combines hockey and golf, with the lowest score winning all.
The events in Las Vegas that were outside, were a little outside of the conventional All-Star weekend, but it made it fun and engaging. It looks like not only are they continuing the trend of thinking outside the box, someone there will be getting their golf practice in before they're pushed out of the playoffs.
It feels unfair that players like Mitch Marner will have such an advantage in any competition involving golf.
