NHL's best goal scorer breaks barriers as Drake name drops him in Future's new song
Drake is a Toronto native and he's known for loving the City of Toronto, but it's another NHLer who is getting love from the rapper. In a recent track dropped by rapper, Future, Drake makes an appearance and name drops the NHL's best scorer. No, not Auston Matthews, this time Drake if referencing Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals.
I'm just all about my goals like Ovechkin, what
I'm just all about my goals like I'm Messi, what
The NHL is clearly getting a lot of love from the music world recently as the Toronto Maple Leafs jersey collaboration with Justin Bieber's "Drew" clothing line quickly became the best selling jersey of 2022.
This isn't the only time Alex Ovechkin has been bigger than Hockey culturally, as someone mentioned in the same breath as Wayne Gretzky and Jaromir Jagr, Ovi's cultural relevancy continues in the mainstream.
During the lockout, stars of the Russian national team gathered in Novogorsk along with Russian pop star Irina Allegrova to film a music video for the song Shaybu Shaybu, a pump-up pop number for the Sochi Olympics.
Back in 2012, Ovechkin wasn't ready to break Gretzky's records, but 2 years off a President's Trophy run, he ended up rapping into a music video with Sasha Belyi's "Champion"
Anyways enjoy some more of Ovi's past hits.
