NHL writer provides twist in Zdeno Chara retirement rumours
Last week early rumors began to leak that Zdeno Chara was close to announcing his retirement. Chara remains an unsigned unrestricted free agent. Last season was Chara's 24th season in the NHL.
It was rumoured that after a disappointing 2021/2022 that Chara felt he could no longer compete at the highest level. But according to Joe McDonald those reports are premature and no decision has been made on Chara's behalf.
Reports that Zdeno Chara is retiring are premature at this point. No decision has been made.
In his 24 year career, Chara who is now 45-years-old has had stints with Ottawa, Boston, Washington and 2 separate stints with the New York Islanders. Over his career he has played 1680 career games and tallied 680 career points.
