With a Stanley Cup Ring now in his pocket, Nazem Kadri's value has never been any higher than it is right now. Kadri showed the Toronto Maple Leafs that the playoff liability wasn't him, but rather the Maple Leafs as a whole. With free agency pending, Kadri's name has been circulating in the rumor mill.
With talks of a stalemate with the Colorado Avalanche, Kadri could be looking to hit the free agency market and let his reputation cash in for a big contract.
According to Hockey Night in Canada's Elliotte Friedman, there are 2 Eastern conference teams looking into sending him an offer come Free Agency on Wednesday.
I have heard not to count out the New York teams possibly looking at Kadri, the Rangers and the Islanders... They think there's a lot of competition and a lot of unique attempts to get him done.
The one thing I do want to say about the Islanders is Lou Lamoriello is notorious for not calling until 12:01 until Eastern on Wednesday. He is old school, he does not break the rules, and that's why (this source) said to me 'you might have to wait for some clarity if that Islanders are indeed part of this.' Teams do suspect that both the Rangers and the Islanders will talk to Kadri, so we'll see where that goes.
Kadri is likely to be one of the top free agents on the market when the clock strikes none eastern.
