Official charges against Milan Lucic revealed in court documents
When Milan Lucic returned to the Boston Bruins it was supposed to be a happy homecoming. Unfortunately after just four games Lucic suffered an ankle injury that has kept him out of the Bruins lineup. It was reported last week that Lucic was nearing a return to the lineup, but he had run into a minor setback.
With fans excited for his return, things changed drastically on Friday night when Lucic was involved with a domestic situation at his home. Initial reports revealed that Milan's wife Brittany had called 911 reporting she'd been assaulted and choked by her husband. Milan was arrested Saturday and taken into custody.
With conflicting reports it was difficult to get a clear view of what had happened, however this morning court documents have been filed revealing the nature of the charges against Lucic.
Bruins winger Milan Lucic is scheduled to appear in Boston Municipal Court Tuesday on a charge of assault and battery on a family or household member, according to the Suffolk County district attorney's office and clerk's office.
The Bruins and Lucic agreed that the forward would take a leave of absence from the team immediately following his arrest. It's unclear at this time if Lucic intends to enroll in the NHL's Player Assistance Program or seek additional help.
If convinced the charge Lucic is facing catty a maximum penalty of two and a half years in jail and a fine of up to $5,000.
