Official has to helps Ryan Merkley to the bench after a big hit leaves him hurting
Ryan Merkley has been in and out of the Sharks lineup this season. Earlier this year he was even cut by a skate during an AHL game. Now fully healthy Merkley was hoping to have an opportunity to get in some consistent playing time.
Unfortunately for the 21-year-old, his stretch of health appeared to be short lived. Less than 2-minutes into the game Merkley took what some believe was a late hit from Kyle Burroughs. The hit left Merkley visible shaken, as an official had to assist him to the bench.
To add insult to injury on the same play the Canucks went down the ice and scored the opening goal of the game.
After a trip through concussion protocol, Ryan Merkley has been cleared to return.
Do you feel that this was a clean hit? Or should it have been a minor penalty?
