The Calgary Flames lost game three to the Edmonton Oilers 4-1 on Sunday night in Edmonton to go down 2-1 in their second round series. Game four goes down Tuesday in Edmonton so the Flames are staying in town for a couple of days. A few Oilers fans took advantage of knowing where the visiting team was staying and followed them to their hotel rooms.
The Oilers «fans» harassed two Calgary Flames players in the hotel elevator. While filming their antics on their phone for social media, the elevator stopped at the Calgary Flames floor. The fans followed the players to their room and announced where they were staying and what room. We will not show the whole video in order to keep certain details private as they should be.
NHL players are used to getting «chirped» during the game by opposing team fans. They're used to getting the odd «better luck next time» in public or head nod. What these people did crossed the line of fandom and was straight up harassment. Hopefully something is done about this to avoid these sorts of incidents in the future.
