Panthers best player missing from practice
With their first round playoff matchup prepared to start on Tuesday, the Florida Panthers were a little short at today's practice. It could be concerning to some that both Jonathan Huberdeau and Mason Marchment were both absent from their practice on Sunday. Marchment skated prior to practice per reports.
Huberdeau and Marchment both absent from practice. Marchment skated prior to practice.
Huberdeau has wrapped up a career year with 30 goals and 85 assists for 115 points in 80 games. In the process he set a franchise record for being the 1st Panther to ever record over 100-points in a season. Huberdeau sat out the final two regular season games for rest prior to the start of the playoffs. Per reports he skipped Sunday's practice for maintenance but will play in Game 1 against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday.
Marchment finished the season with 18 goals and 47 points in 54 games. Marchment solidified himself as an everyday NHLer in his second full season with the Panthers. The 26-year-old missed six weeks in early November with a wrist injury. Marchment is questionable for Game 1 per reports.
It should be at least a little concerning that Huberdeau still requires a maintenance day after missing multiple games for "rest".
