Kane was drafted by the Hawks after an unbelievable season in the Ontario Hockey League where he put up godly numbers, 62 goals, 145 points in 58 games. These incredible stats just happened to make him the 1st overall pick.
This future hall of famer has cemented his name in history already winning 3 cups, flying past the 1000 point club (currently 1,141) and continuing to be a dominant player into his 30's.
Kane is currently ranked 5th all time in points by an American born player, which some argue he is the best American born player ever. Recently Kane also passed Blackhawks Legend Denis Savard for 2nd all time on the Blackhawks in assists with 721 and ranks 3rd on the all time points list for the Hawks.
Gone are the days of the dynasty. We saw the Hawks dominate the playoffs, winning 3 cups in 6 years, but since winning the cup in 2015 they've only played in 20 playoff games since, missing the playoffs in 3 seasons and soon to be a 4th.
Newly appointed General Manager recently announced that the team is going to enter a rebuild. With Kane being 33, and the team intending to rebuild, the time would be now to trade him and maximize your assets. It would be surprising if a player of Kane's caliber would want to suffer through a rebuild.
Kane was asked what he thought about finishing his career as a Blackhawk and here is what he had to say:
