Phil Kessel has always been synonymous with an NHL player that you could tell in some way, didn't really care about his conditioning. From his time in Toronto, to when he won the cup in Pittsburg and filled it with hotdogs. The theme has always been he doesn't care about his pre camp condition. That might be about to change.
The Vegas Golden Knights posted a snapshot of Kessel doing some media and he's in arguably what I would consider in the best shape of his career as he gets set for his first season as a Knight.
Take a look:
Last season, Kessel had a bit of a down year in terms of goal scoring (8) but still managed 44 assists for a total of 52 points for the Arizona Coyotes in all 82 games.
If he can be a little lighter going into camp it might add some more speed to his game and get him set to go on a tear next season.
If that happens, watch out NHL, the Phil Kessel of old might make a return.
