Phil Kessel throws more shade at the Toronto Maple Leafs with his Stanley Cup victory
When Phil Kessel was a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs, local media did everything possible to discredit the star. From fake stories about his pregame hot dog meals, to calling him a coach killer and claiming he'd never win anything. Well Kessel left Toronto and shutdown all of those narratives.
In June, Kessel was part of the Vegas Golden Knights team who captured the Stanley Cup. This marked Kessel's third Stanley Cup since leaving Toronto. Giving him the most Cups out of anyone in the league during that timespan.
So to celebrate, Kessel did what he's done both times before.
Can confirm Phil Kessel's day with the Stanley Cup was today.
And once again, he had it in Toronto.
What a legend.
Bringing the cup back to Toronto has become part of Kessel's routine everytime he wins. While Toronto remains his second home, Kessel likes to bring back the Cup as a reminder to everyone that he's accomplished what many said he could never do.
During his visits Kessel has also made a point to bring the Cup to Sick Kids Hospital, an organization he continues to support to this day.
Congrats Phil.
