John Tortorella is not one to mince words, with the league or with his own players.

His criticism of various Columbus Blue Jackets players has been well documented, along video of him chewing out the New York Rangers on the HBO Series: 24/7 Flyers/Rangers.

It's not even the pre-season and Tortorella is stirring the pot in Philadelphia.

«As far as the room, I have major concerns about the room,» Tortorella told SiriusXM's NHL Network Radio. «I've spent the summer going back and forth. I live in New York and go back and forth to Philly trying to relocate there. Spent some time in the office talking to players, talking to personnel, talking to Chuck (Fletcher), and all of the front office. I have major concerns about what goes on in there. Before we even step on the ice, situations and standards and accountability in the room is forefront. You can't get squat done on the ice until you get your room straightened out, and I think we have a little bit of work to do there.»

Along with Elliot Friedman hinting at the fact that Tortorella will not hesitate to leave behind players not prepared for training camp, I'm sure he's winning hearts and minds in another locker room.

With the additions of Tony DeAngelo and Nic Deslaurier, I imagine it's not too far off to see DeAngelo and Torts going at it.

In the meantime, Tortorella has made it a point to not rush to name a captain, apparently, not even Cam Atkinson will be bestowed the honor, despite vouching for him.

It really pays to be John Tortorella's son on an old team, just ask Atkinson.
