Hockey as a sport is physical, hard nosed and at times emotional. This causes players on the ice in the heat of a game to do things they wouldn't normally do, however, there always seams to be a line. Not in this case.

As you can see in this clip of a lower tiered Russian league game, it's evident the player in question doesn't like what he's hearing so he takes matters into his own hands take a look:

OH MY GOD 😱
Some league in Russia - a player two-hand chops one of the referees in the head and then kicks him while he is down.

After what must've been a heated exchange the player slashes the referee over the head and kicks him with his skate while he's down. The opposing team was able to drag him away but not before the damage had been done.

Listen I complain about reffing on and off the ice, but this is abhorrent and inexcusable. Whoever this person is needs to be banned from playing the game of hockey for life and charged.

Not only is there no reason for this, it's assault as well. This is the kind of thing you'll only see in Russia. One has to hope the league does the right thing in this case.
