In round 2, Andrei Vasilevsky only gave up 3 goals in four games against the Florida Panthers. In game 1 of the third round series against the New York Rangers, Vasilevsky gave up an uncharacteristic 6 goals. The last time he let in 6 goals in one game was April 4th against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Rangers fans were fired up after their team scored their sixth goal against Vasilevsky and let him know it while showing appreciation for their hometown goalie.
Vasilevsky had also let in 5 goals against the Toronto Maple Leafs in their first round series and we know how that turned out. But it is great to see arguably the two best goaltenders in the NHL battling it out in the Eastern Conference final. We'll have to see in game 2 if Vasilevsky can bounce back and if Igor Shesterkin can keep pace.
