The Detroit Red Wings announced today that Dylan Larkin underwent surgery for a upper body injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the season. Larkin is expected to make a full recovery within 8-10 weeks.
Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin has core muscle surgery, ending his second season as the team's captain. He is expected to recover in 8-10 weeks.
Larkin, with 31 goals and 69 points in 71 games this year, leads the team in scoring and off the ice as the team's captain. His presence will be sorely missed to close out the year. Not only being the team's best player, his leadership in calling out recent failures keeps the Red Wings competitive even when losing games.
What began as a promising season for the rebuilding Red Wings has recently turned into a repeat of their last few years as they fall into the basement of the standings. With Larkin out of the lineup, Red Wings fans can expect to drop a few points in the standings, and hopefully get a higher draft pick in June.
