On Thursday night, Oskar Sundqvist was ejected from the game for a slashing penalty. In the game against the Florida Panthers, Sundqvist two hand slashed a Panthers defender in the hands.
During the third period, with the Panthers in the offensive zone, Sundqvist tried to stop a shot on net by slashing at a Red Wings player. He looked to have come down using two hands in an axe swinging motion. After Sundqvist was assessed the original slashing penalty, the referees came together and decided the play was worth a game misconduct.
Oskar Sundqvist was handed a 5 minute major and a game misconduct. The Panthers scored one goal during that power play. We will wait and see if Sundqvist is given anymore discipline.
