One of the biggest questions surrounding the Chicago Blackhawks release of Stanley Cup Champion Corey Perry - other than what exactly happened, of course - is why full details couldn't be released. A new report explains why in an easily understandable way.

Sport Reporter Martin Leclerc gave an excellent breakdown in a report on Radio-Canada. He says the Blackhawks had no choice but to keep this a private matter as much as possible because this included another staff member with the team.

"Many people blame the Blackhawks for their lack of transparency in this story. The problem is that someone was a victim of Perry's unacceptable behavior. And as an employer, [Chicago Blackhawks GM] Kyle Davidson has the responsibility to protect the anonymity of this victim, even within his organization."

Leclerc stressed this would work the exact same way in most other workplaces in North America.

"If similar allegations occurred in a law firm, a factory, or any other workplace, no employer would disclose the existence of an investigation before it is completed, nor the names of the people involved. That would be downright irresponsible."

Keeping Perry's release private is impossible, as he is seen regularly on TVs in several countries. The other staff member deserves their anonymity, and revealing exactly what happened threatens that right.
