The Calgary Flames certainly have some big decisions going into the off-season, most notably unrestricted free agent superstar Johnny Gaudreau. Gaudreau is coming off his best season as a pro by far and it was thought that he would hit the open market to command north of 10 million a season from here on out-but that might not be the case.

According to noted radio shock jock Dean Blundell, Gaudreau may be close to returning to the Flames, and at a majorly discounted rate. There seems to be a deal in place with an average annual salary in the ballpark of 9.5 million per year for 8-years.

I would take this with a grain of salt as Blundell isn't usually noted for his breaking news, especially in the hockey world. However, if this is correct, the Flames managed to get Gaudreau on a steal of a contract.

Gaudreau 28, played in all 82 games for Calgary this year collecting a staggering 42 goals and 75 assists for a total of 115 points.

Again, if this is true, good for the Flames, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is Blundell attempting to stay relevant in the world outside of radio, of which he is known for

Update: Reports have begun to surface stating differently from what Blundell reported.
