Kevin Weekes has developed a reputation for breaking news in the most random spots, and it looks like now he's breaking news from some place a bit more expected...the rink.

Bruce Cassidy joined the short-list of VGK coaching candidates, as reported by Bob Ryan on June 10th, so it sounds like Kelly McCrimmon found his guy.

If anything this is a perfect fit, given the organization failure's last season and handicapped by injured players, Cassidy could turn them around, given how successful he was in Boston, with bad drafts and missing key players throughout the year.

He has taken a lot of criticism for how he handled his relationships with younger players, but given that's a cultural issue in hockey, it seems maybe the League or NHLPA could address it as a whole.

In his six seasons as head coach, Cassidy led the Bruins to a 245-108-46 record with six playoff appearances. Boston went 36-37 in the postseason under Cassidy's regime and appeared in the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals, where the team lost to the St. Louis Blues in seven games

It looks like the Vegas Golden Knights could be a post-season player again in 2022-2023 with this hiring, Vegas refuses to fold.
