On Monday following the trade deadline, Ron Francis met with the Seattle media to discuss the moves his team made. The Seattle Kraken are at the bottom of the standings and were obviously looking to sell at the trade deadline. The most valuable player on the roster was captain, Mark Giordano. Giordano had a 10-team no-trade clause and the Seattle GM was worried this would limit the trading partners that he could work with. Fortunately for the Kraken, Giordano was all class and made it easy on the expansion franchise.

Before the trade deadline, Ron Francis and Mark Giordano had an up-front discussion about the veteran being traded. When asked who the teams would be on Giordano's no-trade list, he took a team first approach. When asked about what transpired Ron Francis gave these details.

Gio was great. We talked about that. I said, "how do you want to proceed?" He said "I'm not tying your hands. You can trade me anywhere you want" I said okay, but legally I need you to give me a no trade list and he gave me 10 teams that weren't in the playoffs. So, it was never an issue with him. He was first class the whole way through.

It's no surprise that Mark Giordano has been the captain of the only two NHL organizations he's played for. Even when Seattle decided it was best to move on, he was still all class.
