Ron Hextall threatens to move any player on his team that refuses to do this one thing
The Pittsburgh Penguins sit in the last wildcard position leading into the second half of the 2022-2023 season and with that has come questions about whether or not Mike Sullivan has lost the room or in other words the respect of some of the Pittsburgh Penguins players.
When Ron Hextall who was hired by the Penguins in February of 2021 was pressed recently, about how his head coach and his players were working together, his answer was empathetic to the core.
Hextall went on to suggest that since his hire that the players have been «consistent for him and for Sully.» Hextall however suggested that the entire organization «needs to be more consistent» from him on down.
As a player, Hextall never shied away from difficult situations and in fact, took them head-on and ran with them; from being the first goalie to ever score a goal at the National Hockey League level to participating in five goalie fights throughout his career, it was evident during his playing days he'd do anything to support his teammates and now during somewhat unfamiliar times in Pittsburgh, he went to bat for his long-time bench boss.
Hextall finished by saying if he believed that any of his players were not responding to their head coach he'd rather move on from them than Mike Sullivan.
If there are any players not responding to him, I'd look to move those players.
