The Seattle Kraken and the Washington Capitals are locked in a heated battle tonight at Capital One Arena and when that happens, there's often a physical element to the game.
Late in the second period, Kraken defensemen Jamie Oleksiak got called for a 5 minute major for his hit on Capitals defender Alexander Alexeyev.
The call was reviewed as all majors are these days and after short time the call was confirmed and Oleksiak was tossed from the game.
Alexeyev was slow to get to his feet bug did eventually leave under his own power. Washington's public relations Twitter confirmed he would not return to the game with an upper body injury.
NHL player safety will review the play automatically as a result of the major assed on the play.
