The wait is over Seattle Kraken fans. The 2021, 2nd overall pick Matthew Beniers has officially signed his 3-year entry level contract. Beniers signed his entry level contract after his College season ended after an overtime loss in the Frozen Four semi-finals.
Beniers signing his entry level deal is exciting enough, but he's also expected to jump right into the NHL Tuesday night. The Kraken are scheduled to face off against the playoff bound Calgary Flames, in what is expected to be a very tough test.
It doesn't appear the Kraken are looking to ease their top prospect into the lineup with limited minutes because it appears they've slotted the youngster in on the second line.
Lines look something like this for #SeaKraken:
Rask-Gourde-Lind
Donato-Beniers-Eberle
McCann-Wennberg-Kuhlman
Sprong-Geekie-Donskoi/Sheahan
Dunn-Larsson
Soucy-C Fleury
Oleksiak-Borgen
Pouliot-H Fleury
Worth noting: Haydn Fleury is in a red no contact jersey Beniers, 19, played in 37 games with the University of Michigan and scored 20 goals, while adding 21 assists. Beniers also was able to represent Team USA at the Olympics in Beijing.
