After dealing with an equipment issue to start the second period of game one of the Western Conference Finals against the Edmonton Oilers, Darcy Kuemper left the game mid-way through the second period, appearing to be injured. Kuemper was replaced by Pavel Francouz in net after the former had gone to the dressing room.

Kuemper went to the bench during a TV time out and talked to Avs' Head Coach Jared Bednar before exiting the game. Kuemper pulled himself reportedly because of blurry vision and he said he couldn't see the puck.

It appears that Kuemper is still feeling the effects of an errant stick that entered his mask and hit his eye during the Nashville Predators series. If you look at his play since the Nashville series his GAA and save % have dipped. Another indication that he's not 100%.

The 32 year old, allowed three goals on 16 shots in 27:19 before being replaced by Francouz. The Saskatoon product entered Tuesday's action with a 620 record and a .904 save percentage in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs. During the regular season, Kuemper went 37124 with a .921 save percentage.

Bednar has this to say after the game

"Darcy was playing and battling and didn't say a lot."

Bednar said of Kuemper's play.

"Obviously we were scoring and playing well, but he was having a little trouble as the game went on, so probably not his best performance early in the game for circumstances I won't get into."

Game 2 goes Thursday night at the Ball Arena in Denver.
