Sidney Crosby Receives Rare Award
Sidney Crosby is at the latter stages of his career, collecting 3 Stanley Cup rings previously, and he has become the identity of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as a competitor who always fights to win. At 35 he's on pace for another 40 goals this season, impressive.
However, another story is the Nova Scotia-born Center has been given another honor which only a handful of people are appointed for each year.
Crosby has contributed to the betterment of Canada, by investing in Canada's community and being a highly prolific and one of the NHL's greatest players. Which is why he has been appointed to the Order of Canada
Crosby and only 98 other people this year have been selected for the honor. The Pittsburgh Penguins center has in 18 seasons, put up an astonishing 1,452 career points in the NHL, in the order of things 17th all time. Among other noble initiatives Sid The Adult has taken part in, was in 2019 donating hockey equipment to underrepresented communities in Nova Scotia.
This isn't the first time Crosby has given back to the Nova Scotia sporting community. In July 2018, the 32-year-old donated $50,000 to Special Olympics Canada ahead of the beginning of the Summer Games in Antigonish.
