Last Night the Carolina Hurricanes were in Denver to face the powerhouse Colorado Avalanche in a battle of two of the top teams in the NHL. During the 3rd period of the game Andersen made a save and appeared to stumble awkwardly.
Andersen fell to the ice and was in considerable pain. Andersen stayed down and needed to be helped off the ice. Andersen was unable to put any weight on his left leg.
After the game Head Coach, Rod Brind'Amour wasn't able to provide an update on Andersen's injury status.
There are many questions as to why Andersen was still in the game having given up 7 goals already. Andersen had been having a great season before the injury.
The Hurricanes announced this morning that Andersen was scheduled for an MRI to find out the extent of this injury.
If Andersen is unable to return this could be a major blow for a team that looked poised to challenge for the Stanley Cup this season.
