Surprising team reportedly enters William Nylander trade talks
William Nylander was drafted, developed and has spent his entire professional career with the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, it appears as though that might be about to change. After talks on a new contract with the Maple Leafs fell apart the Leafs reportedly began shopping Nylander.
It was initially rumored that teams like the Carolina Hurricanes were in conversation with the Leafs, but now it appears one of Nylander's former General Managers is inquiring about his services. No, not Kyle Dubas, but actually Lou Lamoirello.
The New York Islanders were reportedly interested in acquiring Alex DeBrincat but couldn't make the deal happen, so it appears they've now shifted their interest to Nylander. While Nylander doesn't play the defensive style that Lou loves, he does the most difficult thing in the game and that's scoring goals.
According to Hockey Buzz owner, Eklund the Islanders have significant interest in Nylander and the Maple Leafs are extremely motivated to get a deal done as they also have their eyes set on a potential move to acquire Erik Karlsson.
One thing is for sure though, the month of August is definitely going to get interesting.
