Sergachev was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in June of 2017 in exchange for Jonathan Drouin. The rookie was mentored by the likes of Anton Stralman, who helped shore up any mistakes, Sergachev would make.
However, in his first season with the Lightning he put up 9 goals and a total of 40 points. In his time with the Lightning, Jon Cooper has found a spot for him on the Power-Play and increased his ice-time in his tenure there.
Sergachev has been a consistent 30 point defenseman, so this change of agent has one thing for certain: Millstein will likely not deliver a team-friendly deal.
Millstein has negotiated 11 NHL contracts for defensemen, for a total of $62,007,499 and Nikita Zaitsev isn't half as good as Sergachev and still makes $4.5 million.
So it is easy to see why he'd make the move, considering he's an RFA in 2023 and will be wanting a raise. Sergachev's current AAV is $4.8 Million
Given the current Tampa Bay cap crunch, it's hard to tell if Millstein and Sergachev will make it team-friendly, after make it to three Stanley Cup finals.
