The Internet turns on Ron MacLean after his comments about Ukraine Invasion
During last night's Toronto Maple Leafs versus Washington Capitals' game, Sportsnet Broadcaster, Ron MacLean, issued his own personal comments about the situation currenlty unfolding in the Ukraine. The comments made by MacLean drew immediate criticism as he compared the country music group, The Dixie Chicks, to Alexander Ovechkin. MacLean defended Ovechkin and his previous support of Russian President Putin, while comparing it to the bands stance against President George Bush.
Whatever point MacLean was trying to make it was lost on the crowd as fans online immediately began to accuse MacLean of "virtue signaling".

At this point, I believe it would be a good idea for Sportsnet to take their broadcasts in a new direction. This was something CBC attempted to do years ago, but that was shutdown by Don Cherry, who worked hard to save his friend's job.
