Trading Jakob Chychrun just got a lot more difficult after recent announcement
Earlier this summer Jakob Chychrun made it known that he was no longer interested in being apart of the Arizona Coyotes franchise. Chychrun made it clear he wasn't interested in entering another rebuild with the team. Since being drafted by the Coyotes, 16th overall in 2016, Chychrun has only seen the playoffs once.
Chychrun has made it known he wants to be a part of a winning franchise who actively tries to win every game. Chychrun's public trade request didn't do anything to help Coyote's General Manager, Bill Armstrong, to extract full value in a trade. Today's news will likely further impede Armstrong from receive a solid return.
Chychrun has yet to play at all this season, while rehabbing a wrist injury. It had been reported last week that teams interested in Chychrun were hoping the defender would return to the lineup shortly and dominate. Seeing a healthy Chychrun would go along way to making teams feel comfortable giving up the required assets to complete a trade.
Teams have always had concerns about Chychrun's durabilty as the defender has never played more than 68 games in a season. Today's news will not make anyone feel more confident in his ability to stay healthy.
Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong said D Jakob Chychrun (wrist) is still week-to-week after facing a setback in his recovery.
It's becoming very clear that Armstrong may have overplayed his hand and ruined his potential return in a deal. As more teams shy away from the Chychrun talks it's likely that the ask for two 1st round picks is likely to never be met. Only time will tell how long it takes Chychrun to get healthy and return to the lineup now.
