Two more NHL teams unveil ugly jersey advertisements
Earlier this summer the Minnesota Wild became the first team to display their new jersey featuring the on jersey advertisements. Fans of the game have fought these ads for years not wanting to emulate what European hockey jerseys have become. But it appears we are taking another step towards that process today.
Both the Washington Capitals and Arizona Coyotes have now joined the party showing off these awful ads at the NHL rookie showcase.
As expected these advertisements take away from the natural esthetic of the jersey. It's only a matter of time before the league attempts to generate even more revenue by adding even more ads. This is clearly Gary Bettman's failed growth of the game finding its way to offset other revenue streams he's lost of the teams.
Maybe instead of jersey ads it's time for a new Commissioner?
