Vancouver Canucks give their goalie permission to seek a trade
The Vancouver Canucks have had a decent off-season, picking up Andrei Kuzmenko and Jonathan Lekkerimäki. But it appears, they're moving on from their 2017 draft pick, Michael DiPietro.
DiPietro put up an impressive .952 SV% at the 2019 World Juniors, not bad as someone who was considered the third option in 2018. From his world juniors performance, he was considered to be the Canucks goaltender of the future and has been playing with the Canucks AHL affiliate for the last 3 years.
Agent Darren Ferris has permission from the Canucks to talk with teams about a trade for his client and goalie Michael DiPietro.
With the Canucks set between the pipes with Thatcher Demko, Spencer Martin, and Colin Delia as a third option, DiPietro will hopefully be moved soon.
For now, the latest update is that there is interest in the Abbotsford Canucks goaltender, and it may make sense for the club to pursue.
DiPietro will not have to sign in Europe if that is the case.
